ONCE UPON A TIME there were two sisters. The one was rich, but had no children. The second one was a widow with five children which she could not cater for. One day she went to her sister and said: "My children and I are starving. You, however, are rich. Give us some bread".
The rich sister then, who was also cold-hearted, told her: "I have nothing in my home to give you. Leave".
A few days later, the rich sister's husband happened to come back from work tired. When he reached out to cut some bread, he noticed that its interior was filled with all sorts of small green spots of mold. Then he went to the basement to pick up another loaf, but couldn't find a single one that did not have the same green spots. Along with the bread, the flour and the wheat they had put aside for the winter was also filled with mold. Terrified, he went back to his wife to inform her of his finding. She screamed in despair as soon as she realized their whole harvest was destroyed.
The poor sister then knocked on their door, who carried two big loafs of bread. When they asked her where she found them, she said:
"I was praying to God to take pity on me and my children, when I heard someone knock on my door. When I opened, I found a basket filled with bread and thirty sacks of flour, enough to get us going for the winter".
"So, I thought of bringing you some as well", and with those words good-nighted them.
