THERE WAS ONCE A WRITER, who used to spend his nights in front of a fireplace and get inspiration so as to write literature.
This man had been previously visited by Eros, the cunning angel of love, whom the writer had accommodated so as to spare him from the terrible blizzard outside. But as it often happens when the young angel sees lonely people, right before leaving his house Eros shot him with a love arrow, aiming straight for the heart.
The very next day, the writer went out of his home and fell in love with a young girl, whom he often met and already had tender thoughts for. When he realized his love interest was unrequited, however, he burst into tears. So deeply depressed was he, that he turned a blind eye towards any other girl who wanted to meet him. "What a wicked game this winged Angel has played with me", the writer thought, "making me fall in love with such a beautiful girl that does not reciprocate".
And so, the days passed, and the writer was feeling completely lost, until one night that he was sitting in front of his fireplace as usual, the door knocked again. When the writer opened, he saw not one, but two winged angels with bows who were probably twins, as they looked exactly the same. Quick to remember the terrible misfortune that hit him the last time he let Eros in his home, he immediately reached to close the door. Then one of the children told him:
"I am Eros, the angel you met last time. But this time, I have come with my brother, Anteros, who wants to meet you in person".
Anteros, the twin brother of Eros, then took his bow and fired an arrow at the writer, hitting him in the butt this time as he immediately turned his back and ran to hide. The two angels then burst into laughter and the poor writer hid his face, coming to believe they were making a laughingstock out of him. But as soon as tears flooded his eyes, something remarkable happened: he felt relieved from all the burdens in his heart. When he looked again at the door, the two twins were gone.
The days that followed, the writer lost his interest for the girl that was ignoring him, as if by miracle. Whenever he saw her on the street, he felt no attraction for her. Soon enough he met another girl, who already had feelings for him, and with whom he had more luck as she immediately reciprocated his interest. A few weeks later and they both so deeply in love with each other that he had forgotten all about the first girl.
And so our good writer took his lesson, not from Eros, but rather from Anteros, the winged angel's twin brother, who might not be that much of an archer, so to speak, and often happens to miss his target, but when he does, he always finds a way to correct the injustice his brother's strikes have caused.
