ONCE UPON A TIME there was a farmer who only had one cow, which he milked each and every morning. As he milked the cow, he prayed to God that she would have milk the next day. The devil, however, as he hid behind a tree, heard his prayer, and thought to himself: "When things are going well, they always thank God, but when something goes wrong, they lay the blame on me!"
A couple of days later, the farmer went to milk his cow again, yet this time she had no milk. He then exclaimed: "The devil stuck his nose again!".
"Exactly as I had thought!", complained the devil who was hidden behind a tree. The farmer then, disappointed that the cow didn’t have any milk, went to feed the chicken. The devil went out from his hideout and milked the cow, which this time miraculously gave all her milk. He then thought: "Now the farmer will have something to thank me!"
But as soon as the farmer was back and saw the full pot, he exclaimed: "Thank God, she finally gave her milk!"
