A LONG TIME AGO, in a village far away, there lived a beautiful girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes, whose name was Eve. One day, and as she was walking in the forest, she came across a snake, which however neither looked threatening nor made the slightest attempt to come closer to her. She found it very strange but as she was very scared, she turned around and ran away to safety.
When she went back home and told her mother, she told her: "Since you're afraid to come close to it, next time leave this piece of cloth near it".
So the next time, Eve took a fine piece of cloth with her and went to the exact same spot, where she found the snake coiled around a tree branch. She then threw the cloth at the snake from a distance and hid behind a bush to observe: the snake grabbed the cloth and headed in the direction of an old, abandoned Castle.
Eve followed right behind, but just before they reached the Castle, the snake took a different route and descended in a cavern nearby. Eve went back to her house to tell her mother the story.
Following Eve's directions, ten brave soldiers from the village headed to the Castle the next day and found the exact same spot that Eve had lost the snake the day before. They entered the cave with lit torches, yet found no snake, but rather a big treasure which they awarded to her for her bravery.
As for the snake and the cloth? Many years later, and after Eve proved herself worthy of her fortune, the snake found her again in the same spot they met the first time in the woods, to return it to her.
