AN ORNAMENT TREE made of wood once felt very lonely during Christmas in the company of the other ornaments that were plastic, as they ignored him for being the only one made of wood. “Why doesn’t he hang out with the fir tree instead?”, they justified themselves and turned their back on him.
When the time came for the housewife to decorate the Christmas tree, our good tree was let down once more, as she had bought a plastic one instead of a real. “And now, who will I hang out with?”, the tree wondered, then jumped from the tabletop on top of which the housewife had placed him and ran to the nearest forest to find real fir trees made of wood to hang out with.
He walked through the snowy forest never to come across a fir tree, however. “The humans must have cut all of them for Christmas”, a squirrel that was searching for acorns told him, and our good tree was very let down to hear it to the point that he thought of turning back and returning home. Yet the very last moment he saw a woodcutter cutting down a tree that looked like a fir tree and wondered.
The tree ran as fast as he could to stop him. But before he even had the chance to come close enough, he saw the woodcutter throwing the tree to the ground and chopping it to pieces, which he loaded on a cart. “This must have been the last one”, the woodcutter said as he cleaned the last needles from the fir, and our good tree burst into tears to hear it.
He, then, thought of jumping on the cart so as to follow the woodcutter’s cart to its destination. The man took no notice, and they both trod through the snowy forest, until they ended up not in a regular house, but some mysterious workshop. Ten little elves went out of it to help the woodcutter unload the pieces of wood with the aim of turning them into wooden toys. Now our good tree realized that the woodcutter was no one else but… Santa Claus, who had gone to the forest to get a fresh supply of materials for the presents he would be delivering for New Year’s Eve.
As soon as the tree walked inside the workshop, he got very amazed by all the toys sitting at the shelves, as well as the various techniques that the elves were using to create them. He then came up with a plan: he would sit right next to them as they turned the wood into toys, so as provide them with inspiration. “Very beautiful!”, the elves exclaimed as soon as they saw the tree ornament, and made hundreds more like it by using it as a point of reference.
They then put them all in bags and gave them to Santa Claus, who used his sleigh and elks to fly over the city nearby on New Year’s Eve and give the presents to the children. So, our good tree returned back home, this time, with his new friends that looked just like him, and they all lived happily ever after.
