THERE WAS ONCE A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS who was very lazy. When she was asked to spin the wheel, so got so angry every time a knot appeared in the flax, that she threw it all to the ground and started all over. Her servant, however, was very prudent, and used to gather the wasted flax, clean it and make beautiful dresses out of it.
A young prince then happened to ask for the Princess's hand, and the King, who was thrilled, threw a big party at his palace. The servant girl was also invited. So gracious was she in her dress when she started dancing, that the bride exclaimed:
"Look at the beautiful dress she has made out of the flax that I have been throwing away all this time!"
When the King heard it, he asked his daughter to explain what she meant. She then told him how the clever servant used the flax she was throwing away while spinning the wheel to make dresses.
From that day on, the servant got promoted to treasurer of the Palace.
