IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN, below the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, a rose tree happened to bloom. Soon thereafter, the petals of the flower gave birth to a beautiful bird: the flicker of its wings was like the travel of the light, his wings colorful like a painting and his singing was like the most enchanting serenade. When Eve cut the apple from the forbidden tree and gave it to Adam, however, the Angel that cast them out of Paradise happened to touch the flower with his fiery sword, and from that first spark the rose surrendered to huge flames that turned it into ashes. But from the ashes came out of a red egg, and from the egg a bird that was reborn - a magnificent Phoenix.
Mythology tells us that the bird flew above Egypt and Mesopotamia, then nested in Crete and from there spread its wings to Europe and the rest of the world. And it takes centuries or even millennia for the bird to surrender again to its flames, but every time, a magnificent new Phoenix is reborn from the same red egg.
It is said that when a mother sits next to her baby's swing, the Phoenix also sits on the pillow so as to spread its wings over the newborn for protection, and lulls it to sleep. And when the Phoenix flies on the heavens and sings, its song is so beautiful that even the Sun stops its chariot to appreciate it.
It is the bird of Paradise, that always springs from its ashes, only to return to its ashes after many centuries! Its name was given to it during its first birth in Paradise, as well as it's spark - which is none other than the spark of civilization itself.
