ONCE UPON A TIME there was a woodworker who was diligent and fair, and who however, was not rewarded by his trade according to his sweat. One day that he crossed a river he met a dwarf, who told him:
"My dear woodworker, if you look below the olive tree that can be found near the end of the road, and dig beneath its roots, you will find a treasure, a reward for your hard work all these years".
The next morning, just before sunrise, the woodworker went to find the tree. He dug a large hole just below its roots, but found nothing. Disappointed, he went back home, but underway he was stopped by an old man who asked him whether he had any olives with him. He answered no, as he was a woodworker.
The next day, however, he became really curious as to whether the dwarf had made a fool of him, and if there was indeed a treasure below the olive tree. So, he went back again, and was astonished to see that the hole he had dug the previous day was filled with olives that had fallen from the tree's branches.
He gathered them all in his basket and took the route home again. Underway he met the old man again, who gave him ten golden coins for each olive he bought. With the money, the woodworker never had to work again in his life, as he bought a house, a cart with horses, as well as many fields in which he planted olive trees.
